Dementia is a syndrome that manifests itself in the form of different diseases, the most common of which is Alzheimer's (about 60%). Old age is the main risk factor for developing dementia. The demographic development of the Swiss population suggests that the number of people affected will increase in the decades to come.

The National Platform Dementia aims to improve the quality of life of people with dementia and their families. All those affected by dementia should have access to high-quality, low-threshold and continuous services of integrated psychosocial, medical and nursing care at all stages of the illness.
